Our speakers

Our speakers represent many of the leading UK and international organisations. 

Each speaker brings their own expertise and experience in leadership, giving a unique insight into their own personal challenges and the successes that they have encountered along the way. 

Our speakers reflect on their learnings of both success and failure, articulating what has shaped them as a leader both personally and professionally. 

All our programmes are run under the Chatham House rule which encourages our speakers to be open, honest and reflective, giving our participants a real insight into the their leadership styles and challenges.

Dame Fiona Reynolds DBE

Dame Fiona came to the college from the National Trust, of which she was Director-General from 2001-2012. During her time at the National Trust she made it warmer and more welcoming, bringing the houses to life and raising the profile of the Trust’s work in the countryside. Read more...

Sir Charlie Mayfield

Sir Charlie joined the John Lewis Partnership's Board as Development Director in 2001 and was responsible for developing the Partnership's online strategy. He became Managing Director of John Lewis in January 2005 prior to taking up his appointment as Chairman of the Partnership in March 2007. Sara Thornton served with the Metropolitan Police from 1986 and over the next fifteen years her career alternated between operational postings in West London and strategic roles within New Scotland Yard. Read more...

The Reverend Dr Martyn Atkins

Martyn has been General Secretary of the Methodist Church of Great Britain since 2008. As General Secretary, Martyn leads the ‘central staff’ of the Church (though some are dispersed around the UK and islands). Known as the ‘Connexional team’, this is a group of some 170 people. Read more...
